I'm in negotiations to have these manufactured exclusively for me in brick red and brown.

It's the most vintage-looking pedal I can find where the manufacturer is willing to change the rubber color in my quantities.

What do you guys think?

I like that style pedal because it appears the pedal can be disassembled and the bearings serviced, and there's the ability to swap the axle (it's called the axle, right?) between 1/2" and 9/16".

Brown can be tricky. I would want a medium brown for some of my bikes, and dark brown for others.

Oh, and Frank, I will have to pick one brown. I think sales-wise a dark brown would be best.

Sounds rad.
I got some, I think they were Sunlite-branded, that were described as “rubber” but when I got’m, they were definitely plastic. Surprisingly, they haven’t cracked yet, but I was kinda disappointed nonetheless. But harder-compound rubber sounds good.

Depending on the TPV compound, it can def become plastic-like, but technically it's a rubber.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll mention it, and make sure I get something on the softer side.

...they are burgundy. [emoji35]

I started with this.

And, after re-powder coating the cranks this afternoon, ended up with this.

I was hoping to find pedals to match my seat.

I'm still looking. I have a dark brown pair of leather grips on the way that I bought on EBay from Poland (of course). [emoji1200]

I had a brown bike project and, after searching various shades of tans to browns, ended up getting economy VP (victor?) pedals in rat-trap (378) style with coats of primer and paint.
I believe that the burgundy-brown demolitions (BXM) might sometimes be advertised as "ox-blood" in color.
Later, I would find (online) barely used "Huffy" plastic brown/black/cream pedals taken off Chinese cruisers. I like those, (even in plastic), but do not need a larger pedal collection.

I basically did that for my USAAF bike. Cheap pedals with rubber/plastic blocks, swap with some you make of wood. I used some scrap oak. Cheap and easy.

I found these at the local BMX shop. I like that the color is real close to the seat. They are Fly Bikes Ruben pedals. They used to make matching grips which have since been discontinued...and which I'm now hunting for. Only $16.99!

So after seeing these pedals, and emailing England to try to buy a pair, only to find out there are none in stock, I thought I might try to make a pair of my own. I stopped by my LBS this evening and scored these:

Bolt-together NOS Wald 9/16" pedals made in the US! The metal could use some polishing, but I have a feeling they are going to look great with some dark stained and polyurethane coated oak blocks bolted in.
