The paint came out great!

Thanks guys! To be fair, you can see some things here and there but I'm very happy!

Gold is going to POP on that brown. It will be so classy

I saved this reply for last:

Seat stays.

I will clean up the rough lines tomorrow and tape a line on both fork legs.

On this side, the tape removed a little paint.

I mean, its still a rat right? Thats ok
I will think about getting a chocolate brown brush/pencil to sand the rough bits and clean it up a little.
But it turned out pretty sweet! Did not want to overdo it.
I wonder how the results will look with the clear coat on.

The bottom bracket is now dark grey. That will pop with the one piece crank inside.

My wife had this great idea to cut the empty can open and touch up with a pencil. I'll try that soon. First the crank and finishing the fork.

This is it. I should have been more specific. Thanks Matti. I do love that wooden arched bar too. I could enjoy a brew or 2 in a place like that.

This build has reminded me of this bike @MattiThundrrr posted since I saw it flipped, Except with a deeper arch. Really like how it is turning out. Great color combo.

I saw a similar bike I loved and saved from pinterest. Not an arch bar I believe? But similar style:

No problem! I had fun with the search. The arch bar related to drinking gave me good vibes and memories.

I managed to cut open the spray can and touch-up the parts that were gone by the tape. I had to work fast, since spray paint dries pretty quickly.
I did check if the pressure was out.

I clear coated the frame and fork.
And cleaned the bearings + assembled the bottom bracket.

Dirty! Cleaned one cup, to see if it was useable.

The center screw is there for "if you need a protection cover" because open bearings...

I can see your balls.

BB ready!

The sound is the crank arm hitting a plastic bag. And its strange, its very clean and well adjusted/lubricated, yet I hear that funny sound. Its smooth so, that was the goal.

More balls!

Lets dry this frame and assemble coming weekend.

Started assembly yesterday.

Ooh, clear coat is sweet!

Old rusty bearing cups go right back in. Races are in good shape.

First thoughts on the bike are mixed. In my opinion it needs a 'racy/thinner' seat and a seatpost that allows the seat to go forward a bit. Also for cog clearance.

Looks great with fenders! I will think how to mount them and keep them steady. They are pretty tough as is.

Assembled the JIS square taper BB. My machined sprocket parts came on pretty good.

The challenge is the chainline. I need to go narrower than a flat 3 slot sprocket. I can probably find the 10mm offset 22 teeth from Ruff Cycles in my shed.

Next challenge is to keep my legs and clothing from interacting with the chains and sprockets.
I need to fabricate a seatpost like this:

This one does not fit and I want to use it for the wooden build.

I will take a short break from building. We have a little more than a month to go. Next week I will hunt for fender struts.

Hi guys, so while I am working on the CrMo seatpost and took a seat on the bicycle again, I realize that it might not be possible to actually work with two chains... I am going to try my best for sure!
Its quite the challenge keeping it from colliding with the legs and cycle in a 'normal' comfortable position.

This would mean that the seat has to move forward a lot.
I have plenty of neat ideas. But IF I need to resort to the original one chain, I need to think about the dropout in relation to chain tensioning.

First the seatpost and then we will see what is possible.

I could not work it out with the higher sprockets and leg clearance...

I already turned the BB around. Chainwheel on the other side.




Now its not Granny in Chainz anymore (plural). That leaves a hole... litorally!
