The multiple bend frame that outskirts is talking about would be VERY VERY difficult to pull off. Being off 1 degree on the rotation of the tube when making that second bend can and will be very noticeable and hard to fix.

Not accounting any problems with that, it may not be possible due to physical interference with the actual tubes as they are bent.

Nothing beats a nice computer controlled tubing bender for making something that is precise and dead nuts on.

But nothing beats being able to bend your own tube like it's a pipe cleaner yourself either.

The only drawback to these manual benders for bike building is that they are tight radius tools. A tubing roller would be a really nice addition to one. Yup Stretch, you're not done with the tools yet. You need a roller now for those long sweeping bends.

Man Greylock that is some nice work putting a hub in a spare car tire. I may have to give that a whirl.

M Martin go to the scratch built section....I have a Hydraulic bender and a roller bender. My problem was all my rear triangles had to be built with solid stock or schedule 40 pipe I could bend with what I had. I kept seeing other frame builders come up with 1'' tubing rear triangles that were perfectly bent. I looked for a way to match them. Everybody suggested sand fill and heat to accomplish this type of a perfect bend. I read everything I could on benders , before I decided to buy one. It was a big cash outlay for a tool that would only do a tight bend for a frame build. I have lots of tools bought in my 60 years on this earth. Some I use alot and others not so much. They will probably all end up in a garage sale when I die , but I don't regret ever buying one. This one is no different , but it should take my frame building skill to the next level , and I need all the help I can get. Who knows if I decide not to build anymore frames sometime, I can always build some chairs or something.

someone got their income tax check! looks like you really have the tools to match your talent now. heck...i wanna come down and watch you build a frame sometime! 8) kinda like an OLD apprentice! marking pipes, grinding welds, fetching the twinkies and pepsi`s! best way to learn is by observation.

No John I saw that everything was fixing to go up in price, so I figured I could buy some stuff and stimulate the economy at the same time. Shoot I haven't even gotten all my w-2 stuff yet. I don't think they have the extra money to send them. I'm also doing the end run on my teeth rebuild. Spent about $4000 so far and still have another $6000 to go. I didn't know a molar had four roots in it till monday.AAAARRRGGG!!! talk about pain.
