Took another shorter, scenic ride around the neighborhood today. Almost didn't get out and ride this morning due to how much warmer it felt around 6am when I walked the dogs, but I'm glad I did. It's much more pleasant out on the park trails, in more ways than one.

Unfortunately, my GoPro stopped recording after I parked at the little island pictured above, but at least I got some footage of the first half of the ride today. I'll have to come back out to the island with my Nikon and telephoto lens to get shots of all the planes taking off from DFW.

I didn't ride too far this time, but like with most of my rides out here, it was very relaxing.

Didn't stop me from seeing how fast I could go at one point though...

Man, that's a sick build, love the twin top tubes! Hope the accident doesn't keep you off two wheels for too long!
nope pedaling a bike to work today.

I got home from my cousin's just in time to unload my new ride before thunderstorms kicked in. I adjusted the front hub, seats & handlebar, strapped on a stereo & rain gear just in time for a test ride during Bike Night with "Cards in Spokes" theme.🤓I was surprised a crowd of about 75 showed up with thunderstorms in the area.

It was a big hit at the ride!:113: I took a spin with a few folks & they had a blast! This thing is quite a workout for one person on hills. Can't wait to give it an overhaul & dig in my parts pile......

Put a few more laps on Shoestring between yesterday and today. I went out to the same little island I was at before, only this time I brought my Nikon and telephoto lens to practice shooting photos of nature and airplanes. I'll have to wait until I get home to edit and share those photos, but I did shoot a couple pics of that morning on my phone.

This morning was different though. I won't be in Texas much longer, so I decided to go for distance today. I got up a little earlier than usual, which meant I got to start riding just after sunrise at about 6:30am. I got back on the River Legacy Trail, and headed for the other end of the trail. This time, I didn't push myself as hard, and took a much steadier pace. This resulted in me having to take fewer, shorter breaks than before, and left me with way more energy left to use than I expected...

About an hour after I started, I made it to the other end of the trail. That was my main goal for today, but I still had more than enough energy and water to keep going for longer than it'd take just to get back to the house. So I made a new goal: I was going to ride the COMPLETE trail all in the same morning!

So I did! But I still wasn't quite worn out yet, and while I had already passed my previous personal best of roughly 13 miles in one trip, I decided to go just a little further than I needed to go to return to the house...

Also, I nearly ran over this little guy. I went back over, picked him up with a stick, and moved him off to the side so he wouldn't get hurt.

I just did something today I never thought I'd do: I rode 20 miles, 3 hours including breaks, on my 1961 Murray Meteor Flite, Shoestring.
Screenshot_20240627_151136_Gallery.jpg

20.5 miles. I know others have ridden their bikes farther than that, and far more often, but I'm proud of that number. Even more exciting is that I'm now just a little over 2 miles away from riding a total of 50 miles in about a week's time, double the amount I rode the last time I was down in Texas! Looking forward to getting at least one more ride in before I return home on Saturday!

Most riding I do anymore is taking grandkids around the neighborhood or going to a park that have paved walking/ biking paths. Not many places around here have biking trails.
We have trails and a couple dedicated mtb parks but for me it's a time factor, I just don't have it so mostly pavement riding is all I do

There are a few trails around Tulsa, but not many of them have a ton of shade, unless it's the mountain bike trails. I mostly just ride around my neighborhood when I want to ride, or at one of my old college campuses when I want something different.

We have a bunch of these in the Sacramento CA area. I can't help but think these riders may have hidden problems with a death wish. It looks like they stop by leaning the footpads backwards a bit while balancing for the slowdown. Glad to hear that you are not permanently hurt by your mesmerized unicyclist.

Hope floss lady came over to help brighten your day, we got one of these guys in my city he is all blacked out in proper leathers like he's in the isle of man TT or something and he belts along, at least he protected but I think if he hit someone his protective gear would more than likely hurt someone, those one wheel things are a rarity in NZ and this one looks to be a high end one but the whole thing with wearing the whole get up looks way too geek for me

Same! What the heck is that thing?

it needs to be modded and entered into the BO.

It checks 2 of 3 boxes for MBBO
😁

From 1973. Has a Santa Maria CA license under the seat. Was given to my cousin by a friend. He wanted it to ride with his wife when we get together for Tour de Fat rides. He's moving to Boston & can't take it along. I wanted it when he first showed it to me to have fun fitting parts for a cool custom. Should be waaaay easier to ride with an overhaul. I have a couple good candidates to give it a home once I have my way with it.🤓 Too bad I don't have time for an overhaul before noon tomorrow's pub ride at 1:00pm. A few shots of tequila & I think I could get @Palepainter to ride the other side.:13::rofl:

Sorry I forgot to mention earlier but have thought/measured back wheels. Might be able to jump to 24" in back, springer w/20" front. Or 20"x3" in back w/bobbed ducktail fenders, etc.......:39::39::39:

Job one is an overhaul to see if it will work for a couple that may get good use out of it.

It was the last Friday of June and I just came back from a nice ride on the Critical Mass Berlin. Someone said the whole treck was 3 km long. I would guess that we were above 2000 riders tonight.
As the CobblestoneRat is still out, I took the Wolverine today...
