First post here, Adam from Michigan checking in. Such a great site and its one of my biggest passions! Well, enough of that and onto the build.

Picked up this Worksman trike from a coworker, his buddies dad worked for Ford as a welder, and this had been sitting behind his garage for 10+ years. He was going to scrap it, and that's how it came into my hands! Being a fellow auto worker for a competitor, you know, the one that went bankrupt, but not GM, I decided to get to work with an idea in mind. I envisioned a old school Dodge pick up truck for this build. Just a vision I started out with this.................

Ok, removed the add on seat bracket and motorcycle seat, rear cargo area, yes his name was Larry, removed Larry from the frame and added a Schwinn seat. Also went with some tall ape hangers for this one. Removed the solid rubber tires and through on some randoms I had. Decided to take back some barley pops and test her out.................

Got to work cleaning, sanding, wire wheeling and some good ole steel wool. The rims shinned up great and so did the stem. Primed and painted flat black for now. removed and cleaned the drive train and a new chain and chainwheel............

That's were im at for now.

Im thinking some nice fat white walls for tires. Still haven't decided what color to paint her, but would sure love some suggestions!;)

Still need to add DODGE to the back of the tailgate and some other bed details.

Any other tips, suggestions or crits are HIGHLY recommended and appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for looking, Adam...............

You can buy all the front drum brake hand control and hookup parts direct from Worksman. I run the same Worksman drum brake on the front wheel of one of my bikes.

Looks excellent! The paint looks good as is and I agree with whitewalls. The only thing I would do different is the name on the tailgate. A big version of the Worksman logo would look good burned in there.

Thanks for the tailgate suggestion! Never thought about putting worksman on there. Although, that vintage Dodge emblem looks pretty sick also. Now to debate it........

First off, I gotta say, I love EVERYTHING about this bike, except I kinda wished you'd left "Larry" intact.

You did an incredibly good job on the rims, and with stripping/prepping the frame. Do up "Worksman" in a font that looks like an old Dodge, or something like that...

PS-- some nautical cleats on the bed will make it easier to tie things down, so they're functional....and, imho, brass ones look pretty rad.

I know on the Larry thing, it was one of the first think I did, and kinda regretted it since. I did keep the letters and are pretty much intact! Hmmm......

And I love the nautical cleats idea!! Thanks for the idea and will post when I come up with what I do.

Opinions on paint, should I leave it flat black, and if not what does everyone think would be a nice complimenting color?

re: Larry.... you thinkin' of putting that on the tailgate?

re: cleats... They make'm real small... I got some tiny ones at the local hardware for cheap, to put on my Worksman cycletruck....

re: colors.... I always liked the blue/blue 2toned Dodge pickups from the 80s...

I think I'd be inclined to paint it dark blue, with a light blue headtube (between the head lugs), a light blue panel on the seat-tube (between the lug at the top tube and the seat cluster), and maybe paint the vertical cross bar between the top- and down-tubes light blue, too. f you put "Larry" on the tailgate, mabe paint the letters dark and light blue in a 2- tone top-to-bottom fade....

It'll be awesome b/c a lot of folks will think your name's Larry. You could go on a crime spree on your man-trike, and all the witnesses will tell the cops that Larry did it...

Love it! I have an old Mohawk industrial trike waiting its turn. Need a rear wheel and then it will start going together.
