Wow I love where your brain took you on this one LTJ,
she's a compact little machine, looks like the sort of thing
Tatu off Fantasy Island would ride! She will pull wheelies
at the drop of a hat, love how the tubes hug the back
wheel, such an original machine, awesome mate!

Hows about twin seat tubes that match the cantilever tubes? Then either design... I liked the original because it was different, but version two has a unique look to it also... I do think twin tubes may join together cleaner at the headtube.

Carl.

Thanks Chewy!

I never understood how people could ride with the seat like that!

I did up some drawings with a spoon seat and a few other designs, but they just didn't work, so I am sticking to the original plan, but....

Thinking about shortening the seat some and moving the front angle back so it can run between the canti tubes and to down to the down tube...

Something like this:

That way the cool canti tubes are still on display and there is no awkward join at the headtube. Still thinking on it though...

Luke.

That looks really killer...I'd say you're on the right track....Like that seat design the best so far I think.

What if the front seat tube followed the curve of the rear one more?

The two tubes was the original plan, but I'm just not liking joining the 4 tubes together at the front.

:rockout:
Luke, you're my hero.

I tried that just before that one, it just didn't look right to me...
See what you think:

Curved tube:

I think it looks more sporty with the straight tube?

Luke.

I agree

I am looking forward to the bow legged crank video.

I was wondering how long before someone brought that up!
It should be a good laugh watching me ride among with feet 14" apart!

Hey Luke, howsa about using the twin tubes down to the canti tubes, it the new position, not to the head tube, but in a sideways Y config... it's the part below the top tubes that's wreckin' it for me, it seems cleaner without it... and it's odd that the tube drawn in an arc to match the rear tube doesn't look right either, you'd think it would, but I agree the straight is better.

Carl.

Straight is more sporty, but that curved one mimics the curve of the current "seat tube" so well....

This thing is hilarious! :21: I love it!
I feel that the BB should have some more bracing, but I am not sure where or how. I like the curved top tube because where it starts out it is parallel with the seat back tube. Great work so far, looking forward to the riding video, can you do some power slides to?

Ok, I said it on the Facebook post, but I need to say it again...

Cool idea Carl, I will plan it out and see how it looks!

It is interesting that the curved does not work as well as the straight for some reason, I think there is an answer there somewhere... I think Carl might be thinking in the right direction...

Glad you are liking it Moleman!
The BB will get bracing tubes down to the lower stays where they curve back in to meet the middle, pretty sure that will be plenty of added strength then.
A riding video will be a must with this one, I think we will all enjoy a good laugh! I am secretly hoping that like some of my other builds it will be surprisingly easy to ride... ;)

Power slides are out I'm afraid, the Hoosier is so soft and sticky it is unreal! I doubt I will be able pull a decent skid even with the massive 203mm (8") disc brake going on it!

Luke.

Carl, I think you may have found the answer! :praise:

Ok, I now have 4 pics to compare...

In order of what I think of them: 4 is best, 3 is close behind, 2 is close behind 3, and 1 is just wrong...

What do you guys think?

Luke.

Is there any difference between 3 and 4?

Hard to perceive any difference between 3 and 4 but those both look good. I kind of like the look of 2 but it is a bit cleaner with the front tube of the seat stopping at the top tube. You won't go wrong with any of those.
