    **Hatched** Semi-Equipped Schwinn Straight Bar

I don't think that is a Schwinn fork. I have the examples of both the early (bolt-behind) and late (bolt-through) forks and yours is neither. I'm guessing some sort of generic off-the-shelf bike store part.

    Schwinn Spotted

I was out running to the post office today and I spotted one the the 90s Schwinn cruisers chained up to a fence next to a frat house...I live in a college town. It had the chrome tank, springer, phantom style rack, added speedo and horn on the handle bars. Nice looking ride, begging not to be...

Picked up a JC Higgins Colorflow, What do I have?

Thanks for the info on the date on manufacture and the frame make guys. Tanksalot, I've seen pictures of your bike and I definitely like it. I've actually had a complete JC Higgins skirt guard setup on the shelf waiting for that special build but, now that I have this bike I'll offer those up...

Picked up a JC Higgins Colorflow, What do I have?

Once I get my current project finished I'll probably tackle this bike and start by giving it a bath in paint stripper. I'm thinking this would look nice two-tone, black and candy apple red.

Picked up a JC Higgins Colorflow, What do I have?

I picked up this JC Higgins Colorflow this morning at the flea market. Its very straight and is rust free. Theres only one dent on the front fender and one on the edge of the carrier. The tires are great and the bike rides very nice. The saddle is an original Troxel that is in great shape. I see...

    Did Some Saddle Restorations...

As far as I know there is no way to fix a whole in a seat that will provide lasting results. The troxel with the tan original cover actually has a couple rips that the previous owner appears to have glued. I'm fairly certain that they will not hold up once I start riding the bike. The only...

    Did Some Saddle Restorations...

I did have to stretch a couple of the springs due to a partially collapsed coil, just stick a screwdriver between the coils and give it hell until its back to the right height.

    Did Some Saddle Restorations...

If its a 2 pan style seat then I can do it. I sent you a PM.

    Did Some Saddle Restorations...

I was busy this weekend working on 3 different saddles. Two are Troxels and one is a Schwinn Messinger. The tan Troxel has its original cover but, the bottom pan and suspension were worked on by a previous owner and needed some work. The chrome springs came off of another very rough Troxel that...

Newb - 50's AMF Roadmaster Pleasure Liner

To each his own yes, but please consider the history of the bike and the fact that they are only becoming more scarce. Less is more, if you want to build a bike with a straight bar frame just sell this bike and buy a bare frame. The sale of this bike would probably fund the whole build.

Its local to me so I'm there. I've never heard of it before but, it seems worth checking out.

Let's see your Cleveland Welding bicycles!

Heres my CWC after some resto work. Basically the entire bike was thoroughly scrubbed, polished, and the paint was clear coated. I recovered the original Troxel seat. The grips are new and the rubber is a set of vintage Carlisle Lightning Darts. It rides like a dream!

Is there a Proper Way to Install Truss Rods?

I have a 1948 CWC Roadmaster that I'm in the process of finishing up. The bike has its original truss rods and I'm curious if there is a proper was to install and tighten the rods? Should they have a certain amount of tension? This is the first bike I've restored that has them so, I have no...
