    Suicide/Jockey shifters

Show me your shifters, whether they be functional or just fake/decorative. The more inventive the better.

    Low voltage horn?

Okay guys, for my custom Schwinn Meridian trike I'm piecing together and electrical system. Honestly I'd like to go with a simple 3V system since most of it (which consists of LED lights) will run straight off of that without having to use resistors or diodes to bring the power down. On top of...

Merlot: A custom Schwinn Meridian trike

Some of you may have seen in some of my previous posts that I was going to build a sidecar for one of my bikes but then decided instead to just get a trike. Well, first time I took it out the freewheel stripped the threads on the hub, called up Schwinn (Pacific Cycles) and they immediately...

    Where to get "fat" wheels?

With my new trike I'm thinking about putting some wider wheels and tires on the back, should look really good. I have no idea where you guys find them though? The very few places I've found them it's just the outer rim, not a whole wheel. I've never assembled a wheel before and would rather just...

    New bike, some ideas.

My Schwinn Meridian trike will be in tomorrow. I'm not looking to customize it TOO much yet, but maybe just a few things at first. Firstly, what's a good site to order some nice custom seats and grips? Most sites I know of either have gear for mountain bikes or lowriders, not much for...

    Steel pipe sidecar build?

I'm really wanting to build a sidecar for my little girl to come riding with me (she's 4), but I do not have a welder or the money to buy one. I'm thinking that with the proper design I can make a basic one using mostly threaded steel pipe. It would only be for short distances at low speeds in...

Anyone do any scifi/science fiction bikes?

Yeah yeah yeah, I know "rat rod" and scifi don't really go together. But has anyone done anything futuristic looking? I was thinking about doing something kinda Hitchhiker's Guide/Dr Who/Willy Wonka, ya know, kinda futuristic but all crazy looking.

Ditch the springer fork for off-roading?

Ok guys, thinking about doing a little mountain biking with my military cruiser http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=44449 Do you guys think I should replace the springer with a solid front fork? I'm thinking that with my weight (280lbs) and some rough terrain that springer...

    2011 Armed Forces Huffy Cranbrook

Ok, I think she's pretty much finished. Still debating on whether or not to put the fenders back on. Now before you go off saying "but there's shiny bits on it!!", keep in mind that this bike is supposed to be military inspired, not military issue. Oh, and be gentle, this is my first custom...

    2011 Armed Forces Huffy Cranbrook

Started with a plain old Huffy Cranbrook and so far have changed the handlebars, added a rear rack, painted the frame flat OD green, added a headlight, and added a painted springer fork. It's not done yet (and much better pics to come), but I thought I'd share a little bit. Next up is to paint...

    Springer Fork HOWTO?

Ok, got the old fork off by removing the top nut, but I'm confused with the bottom of the new fork. I took the little "ring" bearing thing off of the bottom of my old fork, but it just seems to sit sloppily on the bottom of the new fork. I'm talking about the bearing that looks like a ring with...

Two bikes for $5, not too shabby

Both kids bikes, but still go some good parts there. The green-ish one is a Murray, an actual american one. Not sure about the other one.

An old Roadmaster....but no idea what else it is

Strip down to metal or scuff and spray?

Got a Cranbrook here that I'm going from the factory metallic blue to a flat green. Do you guys think I should strip the paint down to the metal and start over or just scuff it up with some scotchbrite and shoot over the factory paint?

    2011 Rat Bike (motorized)

My first motorized bike. It was made from an old Kulana Riviera frame that I had laying around. Now my next projects. Two Huffy Cranbrooks. I've got an interesting idea for these. One will be an LSU bike, and the other....well you'll have to wait and see.

    Best parts sites?

Other than used stuff from ebay what are some good sites for hard to find bicycle parts? I've found a few sites, but most of the stuff they have is for racing or mountain bikes. Not much really cool stuff. Thanks.

How are you guys doing this?

I've seen many bikes on here like this. The seat looks like it is mounted straight to the frame, on my bikes I can't even get them that low even by setting it all of the way down on the pole (and removing the rear reflector). Are you guys cutting down the pipe and welding the seat in place...

Looking for bikes that have been done up in a Steampunk/Turn-of-the-Century style. Thanks!

    What is this called?

Is there a name for this part? I've seen it on many bikes and it looks really cool. I know that most people make their own, but I was just wondering if there was actually a name for it. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
