    Sturmey Archer Blues

So the culprit was the brake cyclinder was put in back words. So I believe that solved it. I think I need another link in my chain so it sits a little better in the stays. Man if it isn't one thing it's another. Now it's time to move on to a new bike.

    Sturmey Archer Blues

Thanks Wildcat, I will have to print this out and have it with me when I'm out in the garage today. I think I did it all right, but Mr. Brown does/did know his stuff so he is probably the one to listen too.

    Sturmey Archer Blues

So after this afternoon's session of frustration, I have eliminated it down to the coaster brake. There's a piece that is like a round nut with four notches on it that keep the brake arm on. It tighten it down to finger tight and then back it off a little. It appears to me that this piece...

    Sturmey Archer Blues

Yes I do have them big time. I have a 64 Schwinn Traveler, I believe it is a SC3 Sturmey Archer 3 speed with coaster brake. I tore it apart, cleaned it, bought the missing indicator spindle, and reassembled. I have been messing with it for half a week every chance I get. For the past two...

    Hey from Alaska

All those in the military do more than I can ever imagine no matter what branch and no matter what location. You have my utmost respect and gratitude. Plus in addition, Alaska has a very short amount of "nice" weather for riding. So I imagine that can be tough. Well, keep riding!

Daily commuter change of clothes options

I've seen people make panniers out of old metal military ammo boxes. You would be able to paint them to match your bike, and you wouldn't loose your attitude like you would if you just put a rack with random panniers on. Maybe you could even mount one on the front off the head tube. Here is...

    What's your Solvent/Grease/Lube?

I thought it would be cool to make a list up of what people use when building/rebuilding. For a newbie like myself it is so awesome to have such knowledge at your fingertips. And to get tips and tricks from people who have been there already, really eliminates a lot of wasted trial and error...

This seems like my best alternative. I was wailing on them things and they weren't budging. Thanks for all the help people!!!! Just have to wait for one part to come in from the LBS for the 3 speed hub and I'll be in reassemble mode.

I need help with pedal removal!

I tried that but they weren't moving, but they have probably always been on that bike. So I just need to man up and use some real percussive maintainence. ;)

I need help with pedal removal!

What ccr said worked! I didn't notice the two flat sides on the inside. Know I just have to figure out how to get those cups out of the frame. Any suggestions? I'm glad to hear it's a nice bike, was $40 a good price?

I need help with pedal removal!

I will check that out when I get home from work CCR. I just don't remember seeing a place to put a wrench on the inside of the pedal. But I didn't think of that so I really wasn't looking. I did know about the reverse thread though. Ok, will see, if not I will be asking again.

I need help with pedal removal!

Hello everyone, I just recently purchased a 1964 Schwinn Traveler off of CL. I am tearing it completely apart and putting it back together for safety sake, and well just for the fun. I have a question about removing the pedals. Here are some pics: Bike on Workbench Inside of pedal...

    Rusty Roebuck

So after finding a 64 Schwinn Traveler on CL. I decided to pass on this bike. I gave it to a kid going back to college that wanted a bike that wouldn't get stolen. I said "I don't know who would ever wanna steal this bike" LOL Well, I will start a post soon on my new ride.
