No carriage bolts at all, or just none in the size you need? I don't recollect seeing anything smaller than 1/4-20 ever.
Pop rivets would be cool, but you got her done now. Looking good.

Plenty of normal sized carriage bolts, just nothing down at the #8-32 size that I am using.
I considered pop rivets, but I just decided they aren't right for this contraption. I need more adjustability to get all of these very odd pieces to fit together.

Playing around with the engine parts.
First I spread out the ends of the loaf tin valve covers to fit better on the engine.

Next I'm thinking through a couple of different placements for the pipes.

At first, i was thinking about them angling down and the up at 45 degrees similar to rail dragsters.

But I am thinking that doesn't flow as well with the build and really would have them just hanging out there to break off.

I think i am leaning towards mounting them the same way they were on the mickey car. Straight down, then angled out from there.

Keep in mind, this is just supposed to be a kiddie car cartoon facsimile of an engine.

I like it straight down like it was on the Mickey car. Also, I feel like the loaf tins need to be an inch or so shallower.

This is the way ^

I kinda like the oversized cartoonish valve covers, but it's worth a try. I am pretty sure there was one last mini loaf tin I can get from goodwill on the way to dinner.
I'll go pinch a loaf and let y'all know how it comes out. :D
