The diamond cutting wheels are a pain to use.
If you cut glass again use a sink or have somebody help and keep cool water on it; it helps keep the debris down and prevents cracking from heat.

I'll keep that in mind next time. It wasn't that bad with the wheel though.

Removed the tape from the light. I love how well the hammered black looks on the glass.

Starting cutting on the red report binder to test out the best stripes. First pass was with 1/4" stripes.

But I decided that thicker 3/8" stripes would work better with the lense spacing. This is just a mock up, so I taped them in place.

Looks great all lit up King!

Luke.

Thanks Luke, I liked that pic so much I made it my new avatar. I still need to disassemble the 32 LED Harbor freight flashlight and squeeze it all into the light case.

Very cool,You out did yourself this time...:113:
I see you have the luck of the Irish in the back ground...

Glad you like it Miss Funk! I didn't know the Irish had Sears Screamer butterfly bars?:p

I noticed that the scotch tape gave the glass a cool frosted white look, so I tried a test stripe of it.

I loved how it made a white stripe when unlit and also diffused the light better when lit. So I went down to the art store and bought some mylar paper. Cut some mylar strips to test on the lense.

I really like the 3D effect this gives. when unlit. It looks even better lit too. Now I just need to find the right adhesive to secure the ends of the plastic and mylar strips.

I bought this 32 LED Harbor Freight light a while back because I thought it would be great for a headlight conversion.

It breaks down easily into separate components.

I plan to use the battery holder section from one of those dollar store hockey puck push lights.
WP_20140629_16_34_25_Pro.jpg

Then I'll make a way to screw the light section on top of it.

Talkin about the clover with the guinness hanging up in the background...

Kingfish I'm loving watching the light being built.
I do stuff like this all the time & seeing how others do it helps me in future projects.
One thing I've learned is the most basic conversions seem to last the longest.

I knew you were talking about the pub sign, I was just being a SA about the Screamer bars.

Glad you like it. I have definitely posted a lot of step by step on this, but as with all of my builds, the pics are just as much for me (for review and noodling on ideas) as they are for others. Lights are small components, but there is a lot of work that goes into converting one.

This headlight is sweet!!! I need to run to harbor freight to get me one of those flash lights.

They are pretty cool little lights. Plenty of bright LEDs and each section of the machined aluminum case screws apart.

That has got to be one of the coolest lights ever!!!

Thanks man! I think it's pretty slick myself.
I worked out how the battery holder and lights will be secured, so now I just need to get in a soldering mood. I also still need to get the right glue for the red and white stripes.
