I've been debating on whether or not to throw a little soup onto the Screaming Rabbit. I picked this light up off a member on here 2 years ago but have been waiting for the right build. I don't want to come off as stealing any ideas but then great minds do think alike and besides I had fender skirts on my bike before you did.:39:

Trust me, I am not the first RRBer to use a soup can, so you won't be stealing anything from me. We all draw on the collective creativity that happens here on RRB (and especially during the Build Offs). Part of why I started putting together the Buried Treasure Gallery was to make it easier to see a lot of the cool creativity that has been on this site since Day One. I still scroll through it for inspiration.

Shoot! I was just about to say that front mount was exactly as I envisioned it...

The front mounted skirt just isn't right for that fork though, so it will just have to be filed away as a future idea.

This has out done the hemi that I put on It's clobbering time in BO8!!

After repeated comparison of the frame with and without the double skirts and the Pontiac trim, I have decided that I am NOT going to use the upper set of skirts and I am NOT going to use the Pontiac trim. I WILL STILL use the bottom skirts though.
My reasoning for this is the frame. There is just an elegant sweep to this frame that grabs me. I love the curve of the top bars as they sweep down with no seat tube interruption all the way to the looptail drops.

I love the look of the double skirts and the wraparound Pontiac trim, and I am sure if I did it, it would get me some votes, but both of those elements just break up the beauty of the frame too much. Maybe I'll try the idea on some other frame in the future, but not this build.

Lookin sweet:thumbsup: Good call on only using the bottom skirts and not covering that awesome frame. I do love how the Pontiac trim looked with the top and bottom skirts tho and I think you have a great starting point for a new bike:grin:

The one bottom skirt def enhances the open-ness of the frame.
+ the way it kind of echoes that back curve is nice...the yin yang feature.

Good Call!

Wow! I haven't been on here in about a week. Amazing progress I love this build by far one of my favorites.

Thanks. I am glad you like it. Been a lot of experimental mockups, but I am getting closer to locking it down.

I really dig the twin skirts and Pontiac trim to, but it will have to wait for another day.

Playing around with a few things the past couple of nights.
The teardrop pedals are narrower ladies pedals and I have these Person Supreme blocks that I would like to use but I have to find some donor pedals that I can steal the center section from first.

Installed the headtube shroud and have the hood scoop bracket cut. Just have to drill and tap some holes in the headtube.

I never did test a rear fender on here yet, so I had these peaked CWCs handy. The curved braces work well with the skirt curve. Only problem is it's not quite wide enough for the tire. I may see if I have some fatter fenders to try.

Actually, I think the fender is wide enough, but the braces are binding on the tire. I am thinking that I might cut the braces in half at the peak. Then I will have four individual braces that I can reattach so that they don't bind.

Of course I also have to worry about diameter. You can see at the tips of the fenders that there isn't much clearance from the tires.

Hope everyone has an awesome Independence Day!
