Are you trimming to fit to minimize that spacer stack?Cleaned and gave a light polish to the Tortuga forks. Had to go get some headset spacers and a star nut.
I think the beefy redline cranks are the right choice.

The Wippermann 1G8 seems beastly enough to fit your theme. If you can not find one, I may have a spare in the chain bin.
I was going to suggest half link for the angles and "girth". Seems to fit the buildCool chain, but I love the overbuilt three sided armored halflinks of the Kool Knight.
