A-Frame Garden Shed built from preused wood and pallets

Made good progress today!
The subfloor is done and leveled

With it ready I came up with the idea to use it to create a sort of giant jig to get the A-beams done. Like this I can quickly mark the cuts I need to do and don't have to spend all the time for measuring...

Today it was another "No power tools day" (aka Sunday in Germany). But still I managed to get another two A-frames done. The first was already prepped yesterday with precuts from the circular saw, the second I managed to get done with handtools only.

Now all the beams are again hidden away underneath the tarp until next weekend...

After the time change, there will be not enough time after work until dark to do some serious work. And as the garden is close to a canal it gets really wet as soon as the sun is down...
I finished off today's work with digging out the base for a little cellar I intend to build underneath the floor, to store/keep cool food during summer (no pics yet, to dark..)

Man, that’s almost a house. Nice job, and I like the used wood you are scrounging. I’m currently building a much simpler project, a small wood shed for our fire pit. It’s made from free treated wood from two old docks, a deck that was replaced and pallets. People gave me the wood over the last 15 years if I just took it away. Here is what remains of my wood stash after building the grey shed and my almost finished firewood shelter. Both sheds were made from scrap lumber and the grey one has free brown and white trim. Someday I would like to paint the brown metal trim and flashing white. I’ll have to buy cedar trim for the wood shelter.

It won't become a house, but I'm very much inspired by the tiny house movement and the TV-series "Amazing Spaces".
Your sheds look nice and sturdy! Nothing better than building with reclaimed materials. I like giving used materials a new life and I love it, when others do the same!
Later on in the project I will use pallet wood as well...

I’ll be watching. I love your project. My shed is sturdy, today the wind blew over my metal wood rack and cover on my deck. This rack is for our inside wood stove. The wind blew our house around, made it wobble and creak, and the house was built in 2008. The incomplete wood shed didn’t have the roof lifted off. The roof was built first on the ground using corrugated steel roofing. The upright posts were placed before my neighbor and I lifted the roof on.

I try to max out the allowed height of 3,5m from floor surface to tip of the roof.
So with the floor area beeing 3,5 x 3,5m the shed fits almost exactly into a thought cube...
But you are right, it feels huge!

Today I worked 7 hours straight on the shed and managed to get all the joinery for the roof done!

After marking the joints, I usually make several cuts with the circular saw and then chisel out the joint.

And as you can see, today was the first time I worked into dark. I suppose if I want this shed done before winter hits, this will happen more often...

Got only little work done today. Too much family stuff going on on a Sunday...
But I managed to get to the garden for a few hours.
First I took a daylight picture of the whole structure. It's massive..

When I uncovered the stack with the flooring, I realized that some critter made it it's dining room...

Then I went at cladding the rear roof with the reclaimed flooring. Sometimes I need to play a little with the different lengths (hence the gaps) but nobody will see that when it's done. To climb up to edge I used the pallets as makeshift ladders.

Like this I managed to get about half of the roof done before dark, then I needed to cover up what I got finished....

No kid pick up duty today. So I decided to skip prep time for tomorrows lessons and headed to the garden instead. Got some more lights from a family friend, so darkness hitting was no issue at all.

Yesterday I managed to squeeze in some building time in between taking the kid to sports and weekly shopping. Front roof is (almost) cladded up. Only the top two rows are missing. The good thing is, now I can store most of the remaining building materials "inside" the shed.
Today I will do another pick up tour through Berlin to get the corrugated roofing for the front side and hopefully some perspex for the swing up roof. Maybe I can also pick up another door for free...

Made the perfect score today. Went for corrugated metal roofing and came back with three sheets of semi-clear material on top from the same seller. He had them in the back of his barn he has to empty out.
Now it looks like I've got all the materials to finish up the roof!

Yesterday I finished up the edges of the roof with some slats.

Then I started covering the wood with vapor barrier (that black underlay material). I made it two thirds up and had to call it a day.
It was getting to cold (below zero) to work safely in the dark.
I was so eager to get into the warmth, that I forgot to take pictures of the results and somehow I also had forgotten to start the StopMotion recording...
As the rest of the week is pretty busy with other important stuff ( little one is getting 8 this week!), I probably won't be able to do any work before Sunday...

Such a cool thread! I am 90% certain I will be needing a back yard shed soon so this is really cool inspiration. Unfortunately, I am seriously lacking your skillset. Keep up the great work!!
