Re: Bare Minimum.

I would've patched it with some sheetmetal, and brazed it togather. The last picture I would fill those spots in with some brazeing rod. My two cents. Awesome bike

Re: Bare Minimum.

The weather is starting to cooperate better and that means... Bikes!!

I am happy that I could get out and do a few things on this one today. I built both rims today and now I'm waiting on tires.

I also got this secured to the frame. all it took was tapping some threads in the frame.

Re: Bare Minimum.

Today i was rummaging through my parts and I found a bunch of awesome steel baskets! I quickly put 2 and 2 together and I had my grocery-getter mocked up in no-time! I am really feeling good about this change in design and I think it will come in handy for my frequent trips for milk and ice-cream. There are some things I want to tweak before I call it finished. I might just overspray it orange. I saw one of those novelty bicycle bells at the grocery store by the check outs, I think Im going to put a couple of those on there. SO COOL!

Re: Bare Minimum.

Yet another update with loads of pictures....

I worked on converting the light to led today. the light will be much brighter than an incandescent bulb, and the battery life is much greater. even though I changed from 2 D batteries to 3 AAA's. the only disadvantage I notice is that the light doesnt fill the reflective bowl as well and it just doesnt look as pleasant.

I am diggin' this one! You kinda lost me with the baskets at first, but I'm sensing you have a good sense of humor. Nice save on the kick back hub-I would've written that one off!
It was a pathetic attempt at my April fools day joke haha. Thanks CeeBee!

Re: Bare Minimum.

The bike... is finished. well, as finished as a ratrod bike ever gets. im sure it will change some and i will probably swap parts off it in the future, but I am happy with how it turned out. it rides really well. I am surprised. usually i need to do some tweaking before it is just right but I got it right away :) enjoy.

The perfect RAT!!!!

Thanks to everybody for viewing and commenting on this build!! :D :D I want to get my hands on some paint and a thin brush to paint two red stripes on each of the rims. I think that would tie it all together a little better. I am also brainstorming ideas for a tank. I really love riding this bike though. the springer provides alot more "bump dampening" than I expected. between that and the springs on the seat, this thing rides really nice! Thanks again!

here is before :)

very cool bike
that's my style right there use whatcha got no welding no painting no new shiny parts keeping it simple
although i kinda cheated that theory with my latest project i still love the grassroots of ratrodding as you have shown
very nice work and good save on some classics there
