Spent some power tool quality time on the balcony...
First transferring measures from the cardboard onto the wood:

Then fitting the plywalls to the original cardboard walls. This was a bit of trial and error to get the inside top curve right. The remaining gaps will be dealt with later.

And after a bit of cutting and milling (I use flat dowels for the joinery) it starts to take shape (nothing glued together yet):

This is it for today folks.

Made an excavation trip into the subbasement storage compartment and finally found that box I was looking for:

I don't know if I will use the blue light, but I'm pretty sure that the horns will find their way into this build.

I am not sure what you mean by flat dowels, and google was a bit confusing. Do you mill a long slot on either piece and fit a long strip of wood?

The wooden substructure is all glued and nailed together:

Now the glue needs some time to dry and I need to buy small nails to attach the cardboard onto the back...

No small enough nails to be found, so I had to use my crappy mechanical stapler gun...
After I glued and stapled a first layer of 2mm cardboard to the back, I added a second layer on top which was glued onto the first one with it's full surface.

Like this it should keep the bend once fully cured and provide enough rigidity.
Now I will take it inside and let it cure over night and then remove any excess cardboard and smooth some edges and maybe even take carefully some of the staples back out...

Buggy looks great, Swiss-G ! You got an incredible amount of work done in a very small space. I can hear your neighbors conversing during the process,

"Was war das?"

"Es ist nur dieser Schweizer. Er ist wieder bei seinen alten Tricks."

Having the balcony towards a busy street covers my power tools noise. That helps avoiding complaints 🤣🤘😇
But you are right, the work space is really tight. All the tools are currently stacked up in the living room. Good thing the wive is busy with her online study sessions most of the time...🤭

You need to buy it
I honestly would if I could afford and get one...
I always was into vintage cars and I think this pickup looks amazing!
But for now the taillights will have to suffice. I will get them by mid next week...

it even matches the buggy in colour-ish....
Regarding the colour: it won't stay green, that is already clear. At the moment I'm looking for inspiration in the interwebs...
This is the direction I'm heading, but less shiny and more rusty...

It's still a while until this thing is ready for paint, but to be able to place the right order at my supplier I need to think about it...
For the main colours I would like to go black (like the frame) with red and white (the colours I used on my first vintage NSU and its trailer).
To figure this out I made myself this coloring template:
Paintjob Variante 00.png

And here's what I came up with until now. My two favourite schemes are the ones on the left...

Historical side note: with this colour combination one has to be very careful in Germany, as these are the flag colours from Nazi times and I don't want to signal any kind of support towards that kind of people.

So maybe I will try again in the next few days with other colours....
