Pulling on the cable does alter shifting and braking, so I highly anticipate adjustments to solve the trouble.

Currently the OG hub and OG indicator are connedcted to the OG shifter but waiting on cable guides and a trip to the hardware store to attach these to the frame. However, I will need to lengthen the cable.
 
That is probably the exact dangerous thing we are talking about. The gears aren’t engaged therefore no brakes when back pedaling. You could possibly get that fixed by getting the cable adjusted properly, but the condition could come back.

I had similar issues with coaster brake SA 3 speeds. I don’t use them anymore. The SA AW hub is bulletproof, but requires the addition of rim brakes.

Hello Amigos. Looking for advice or links on choosing a length for the cable for initial placement of the crimped end. If it is a previous link, I'll find it.

Grips I love but too long. Might not work out but not opposed to trimming them either.

Waiting on a new cable termination for the final attempt at the three speed so I spent the day waxing the Tour X and the wife's Rav4.

Happy to share tha a new battery, fresh fluids and new fuel line the ZR was up and running. Now to sell it or find a 250 to 400 cc enduro. A 125cc Mad ... would do too...

What problem are you having with the 3 speed?

Never-mind. I must be suffering from short term memory issues!!!

Just watched your video again. I would say it is one of 4 things.

-cable tension off , causing the gears to be in a neutral position.

-wrong indicator chain

-hub needs to be flushed to remove dirt and corrosion

-something is broken and it needs to be rebuilt.

If you haven’t already done this, flush the hub with wd40. A ton! Take the indicator chain out, and spray it into the hollow axle. It will drain out of the oil port. Put chain back in, work the gears, and repeat. This usually helps a lot.

Check the indicator chain length with the help of Sheldon brown

Adjust cable tension. Should be barely slack in the low gear.

If that doesn’t work it is time to rebuild or replace. But again, those 3SC hubs are not reliable. I wouldn’t trust it without a hand brake.

Alas, I did take advantage of the weather and shined some other metal and plastic.

I believe part of the shifting problem was not locking the end of the cable housing. You know, the part you posted about not seeing? Yeah, that one. So I am winging it and learning my way thru.

As soon as anew cable termination arrives, I'll be able to test and confirm or deny.

I haven't watched the video, but it looks like your cable is pushing out of the shifter when you shift; did you use a new cable and housing setting it up? Cable could be binding in the housing. Other probable cause is the housing 'stop' on the chain stay. You need a stop where it prevents the housing from moving towards the rear hub, but still allows the cable to move freely within. Your current cable guide 'clamps' might be restricting that.
I'll watch the vid and see if anything pops out at me.
