Got the mag's bearings and axles back in and decided to use some mongoose 20x2.35 tires that I had. Might try and use a permanent marker to black out the letters.
After I got the tires on I just had to see what they were going to look like next to the fork and frame to kinda get a little preview
Looking like this weekend before I will get to clear coat the frame and fork with the time change it's dark about the time I get home from work around 5-6 o'clock. about the only other thing I can do until then is put the pedals back together.

Wow Brian! Amazing work with the paint and that stencil! This is looking great. Maybe try some Tire Black over the white logos on another tire (spare one) to see if that covers? And then I would do the whole side wall of the tire to tie it in together, otherwise it might look weird.

the Mongoose labels might come off with acetone. Try it carefully?
I think that universal bonding primer worked out good. Really held up good on the aluminum mags even with some sanding after couple coats.
I've ordered brake handles twice now and still don't have any. First place I ordered from sent me this damaged
Messaged them was told they would send me a new one and I could keep the damaged one. Told them they sent wrong thing again then they messaged me saying that they sold the last one. Ordered some from another place they email me asking if I only wanted the left one I said no I need the set they didn't have a set just left. At least it didn't take long for them to refund my money.

Which levers are you looking for, Brian? I can see if I have access to any.
Was just looking for a decent set right and left . Kinda want haro but any that are good and not plastic. I bought some haro forks from Oak Tree he was going to look when he got back.
I remember messing with people with Christmas gifts putting the actual gift in a box inside a box this was the first time I got a package inside a package inside a package inside a package in the mail.
Nothing special a package deal with a chain, hand grips, and a seat. Not sure if I am liking the seat though kinda looks road bike to me.
Guess I will wait and see I bought one at the swap meet last weekend so I will see what looks best.

ya that seat looks more like a bmx race bike seat not a freestyle/ park / trails bike.
So I had a setback with the build yesterday clear coating the frame 
. Not sure what happened I used gloves and wiped it down with a new rag and acetone lightly before clear coat.
Not just those 2 places there is a few more spots like that. Anyone else have this happen or know what might have happened? I guess I am going to try and wet sand those areas and the rest of the frame a light sanding then maybe try and clear coat again. Hopefully not getting through either of the colors trying to get the wrinkles out. If so guess it's a repaint.

Typically you get wrinkling like that when the clear isn't compatible with the basecoat. Are they the same brand?
Edit: "Typically" was probably a poor choice of words there. It's just one reason you can get wrinkling. Close to my heart cuz I've had to deal with it before...

No used krylon burgundy only one I found in the color I wanted and Rust-Oleum crystal clear enamel that I had on the shelf.
If I end up having to repaint I'll see if I can find some krylon clear coat.

I would wait a few days before attempting any correction work. The wrinkling could have occurred because the color wasn't cured before the clear was applied. I was told by an old painter that if you can still smell the paint it isn't cured and ready for the next coat.
I am no expert, but I have been reading a bit on this. (Because I have had mixed results myself). It is recommended to put an additional coat on within 30 minutes or after 48 hours. Roughly. Something called degassing happens between 30 minutes and 48 hours. Not supposed to paint while this is happening. I also suspect putting acetone on fresh paint would change these timelines.

I'm definitely not an expert either but I believe acetone is not the correct product to be wiping down between coats. You should use wax and grease remover but on fresh paint it will wipe a fair amount off and soften the paint. I've painted many things over the years and never used either of those products between coats. I make sure I never touch freshly painted surfaces so as to avoid any contamination and before coats I will just blow off any dust with compressed air or sometimes I will wipe down with a tack rag.
It had been a week since I had painted the frame before I cleared it. I'm starting to think it was probably the acetone. I already did a wet sand and got most of the wrinkles out but it went to the color but hopefully it won't matter after I clear again.
I'm going to go over the rest of the frame and get the orange peel out then try and clear again this weekend. Should I use the same Rust-Oleum clear or use a krylon clear?

I’ve never had a problem with acetone. To be on the safe side I would try a different clear. Or test it on a small area.

As Kram suggested maybe try a different clear. Does it say on the can of color or ear if acetone is compatible?
Most of my clear coat ‘issues’ have proven to more of the base coat not FULLY drying before applying clear. I now mix brands all the time. After letting the color coat dry for at least a week.
