Thanks for your interest and props!Hey there, just saw you're in Witchita, I'm up in KC. Hit me up if you ever find yourself up this way.
I'm really enjoying this build too, great details and solutions.
Yes! I go each year, sometimes sell, sometimes just buy. I'll be there, for sure. Thanks for your interest and props!
Since you mentioned KC, one of my favorite Swap Meets is coming up in August up your way. 20th Annual El Torreon Tribal Gathering lives on.

Looks like a good use for those rubber bands that I usually throw away. Hadn’t thought about uses for those. Thanks.@MazdaFlyer I used a rubber band that the tubes for my bike came with to hold the brake cable in place. It holds pretty solid
I have a brass brush I’ve used for cleaning parts, it should add little used aged look for sure. Thanks for the tip and positive reflector comment.
If you lightly brush that friction tape,, with a little soft brass brush: will, give it the age looked.
I have builds they have had that tape on them for about 18 years now..
Really like the reflectors
Yah I decided that the previous amber reflector was a little too garish. The new one is a bit tamer.+1 on the new reflector set up!
The friction tape worked great. The first thing I thought of was an old cord, just like that one (maybe on a vacuum cleaner?) at my grandma's that had friction tape wrapped around it where it had worn or come apart. Fits the build vibe well!
I heard the parrot [emoji3079] discussed somewhat negatively as well as positive. Thanks for your parrot love. I like his added attitude.Looking great! I love the parrot. Very nice touch.

The bracket is “cooking” in vinegar soup. Then comes the evaluation as to what else it gets. There’s NOS bracket on eBay for $35 if I recall correctly. It is a one piece deal.A little 'roughing up' of that strap, and then a one-two punch of Hammered and / or Multicolor Texture, followed by a ... of rubbed on acrylic paint and that lock bracket will be a real 'knock out'.
Wish I had good actual 28” wheels...thanks for the good words. Yes lots of time involved with this bike so far. You’re putting in lots of work, looks great. I admit I didn’t read all the posts, but many of them. I’ve seen your tire struggles, I have some taller vintage NOS tires, what size exactly do you need?

The fork is pretty beefy, yet the truss rod bracket is bolted to the bottom of the fork. Not sure if the red bike is an Elgin or an Excelsior. This has been discussed in another thread though in case anyone is interested. That fork on the Elgin looks wicked strong!

You're telling your age!Mmmmmm..... What's for dinner Grandpa?
Yah I’m an old Geezer and proud of it, still kick’n it. Good numbers at my checkup last week. You're telling your age!
Thanks, good to hear you are out and about. Appreciate your approval.Killer attention to detail as expected. Well done so far.
“Secret ingredients”, oil residue on parts. No cleaning prior to soaking. Think there is some chemical reaction with the zinc and brass. The bowl has been a plant saucer over time so some residual fertilizer residue should be present as well. Thanks!Dig that lock bracket. What do you put in your vinegar soup? I mean, besides vinegar, of course.
Pickles? Slaw?
