Excited to get started! This will be my 3rd build off. Always a lot of fun journaling the build process and watching others build their amazing creations. If parts keep coming in, I will build this 1959 Schwinn. Otherwise I will be entering the 26” step through muscle bike which I built in the most recent build off. Complete tear down with insert upgrades and the addition of a parachute. It will also receive a fatter rim for the 3 speed hub. And other small touches. Here are the starting points.

As much as I hate to say it, I think I'll just watch this year's Build Off from the sidelines. I still haven't finished last year's MBBO entry, The Prowler, and I have a couple stock bikes I've had disassembled for at least 2 years now that need to get put back together. I have plenty of bikes I could enter into this year's Build Off, but I need to finish the bikes I've already started first.

Those Lance posters are kind of cool.

Thanks! I thought they were cool. Especially for the price.🙂 I'm giving the "Ride with Lance" posters to my uncle who is a life long roadie. He rode with the Grewals, Andy Hampsten, some other pros from the way back. I'll keep the one from the Trek store. It's just too bad how things ended for him.

(I apologize for not replying earlier.)

This is my most likely candidate:

1964 Murray Strato Flite. Picked it up at the bike swap in Westminster, MD in February. It's not all working, but it's all there, right down to the wiring for the horn and light. At the very least, it will get some fresh grease and new tires/tubes, pedals, grips, and seat. Cosmetically, I probably won't go much further than knocking off the top layer of rust to show off that deep-down vintage rust that lies just beneath the surface.

If I get inspired, though, I might go a little restomod with it. I'm not all that crazy about getting the original D-cell lights working, but I might try to update them to LEDs and maybe find a creative way to update the horn too, if I can keep it all concealed in the original tank. I also wouldn't be averse to updating the wheelset to something with a multispeed coaster if the opportunity presents itself.

Murray Strato Flite you say...
Spaceliner dressed up funny. But cool you've got the tank. Some nimrod stole the tank off my Spaceliner before I found it. I see you have the cool UFO tail light too.
Mines just hangin' in the garage waiting, I thought about tearing it down but we've got a ridiculous amount of build time. So it'll wait. Flightliner donor is chillin' below.

Carl.
oh yeah! I noticed in your earlier post that you had the same style frame to work with. Your paint and chrome appears to be in much better shape, and man is that guard coooooool.....
