Thats not a bad idea. But I'll get some more feedback before I buy. Maybe Karfer will chime in here and give some guidance (since his shop will be lacing my rims anyway). And as far as the neck goes... I will try the cheap one out just to see the difference, but I'll probably stay with the Schwinn neck thats on there now.deorman said:The old clutch type coaster brakes, if properly cared for, are way better than the newer shoe type, but I know nothing about, and am curious as to the design of the Velosteel. :? If you buy one, maybe you can post a review/info for us. :|

This new VELOSTEEL claims to be as good as the old originals. Any thoughts?

Velosteel is the continuation of the Favorit hub, which was an imitation of the Sachs Torpedo.
I had a Velosteel, it was as bad as the Favorit, so I put in the original Sachs.
Best choice is probably the Shimano coaster brake.

It says "Ranger"..... But it was on a Schwinn Collegiate that I picked up. Not sure what it came on originally.noodlenoggin said:I think this looks really cool -- really like the velocity stacks.
What I'm really curious about is that chainguard -- I can't make out what it says on it, what did it come from? I have one that's exactly the same, but didn't have the original paint on it:
