Hey, thought you might like to see a 1965 Aussie Falcon we did up a few years back, unfortunatly had to sell it due to moving interstate...

I'm ten months in to my 1930 Model A Modified build.

I got incredibly lucky. I had a friend with one about 14 yrs ago and I loved it. Loved driving it, riding in it, working on it. Didn't know how rare they are. I was planning to go to SC to look at a VW fox on a Friday. That thursday night I checked CL and it had been posted 30 minutes earlier. I called them right away and went to drive it. Needs minor stuff, just maintenence most people don't look at. CV boots, rear wheel cylinders and shoes. Also valve cover and oil pan gasket. It has a couple very minor rust spots in the body and a couple soft spots in the floors. But at $700 I think I came out ok. The dash isn't cracked and all of the gauges, lights, etc. work. I plan on finding another exhaust manifold and building a dual exhaust. I think the original exhaust is a little restrictive. I saw an intake with dual carbs specifically for fiestas on ebay, but the starting bid was more than the cost of the car. Plus I like that great mileage. Previous owner says it gets about 40mpg.

Wow! I never knew they sold Fiestas Stateside?
They only imported them from 78-80 I guess. I thought they imported them starting in 77, but the 1.6 L Kent was only in 78-80 and was the American import option, so maybe late 77 through 80. I wish they had imported more since I'm having trouble finding parts. I'm having to modify parts from more popular cars and manufacture my own parts. They are probably all over the place in your area. Maybe you can trade me parts for bike stuff.

Even MK1 Fiestas are becoming quite rare here. I've still seen a few MK2s knocking around though and I would imagine the parts are still pretty easy to get hold of over here? I've never had a Fiesta so can't really say for sure but I would imagine they'd share some parts with the mk2 Escort and maybe other small fords of the time? I used to have '74 mk3 Cortina which had a (wheezy  ) 1.3L kent/crossflow engine, although it wasn't the front wheel drive set-up. Here's a shot of her:

Love those Cortina's! Over here in Aust we got different motor options... Base model was 2.0l, next was 3.3l (200c.i.) six cylinder and top of the range was a 4.1 (250c.i.) six pot. That made them a different animal I can tell you!

I had a 1973 TD Cortina (Mk3-4) with the 4.1 six, it was a real weapon...

Yep, yous were lucky! They also had that lovely bonnet bulge on the mk3s over there didn't they? Or was that only an option on the top of the range model?

Yep, all the six cylinder ones had the bonnet bulge, it was the only way they could fit an aircleaner under the bonnet! Not a very high revving six, was more of a torque motor, but 150hp standard in a car that weighs just under a tonne made them interesting! A set of extractors and a 2 barrel Holley made a big difference, as did the fitting of what was known as the 2V head. (Bigger valves, option to fit extractors due to removal of the log manifolds.)

That is one car I wish I had kept... White with blacked out rims, still had the XL trim chrome fitted, real grandads car that could spin the wheels in every gear...

Put me in line for that Fiesta! I miss out on one this past Summer!

I WANT ONE SOOOOO BAD!

I'm jealous. Nice westy bus man. I have wanted an old splitty 'bus for years. Few nice bay windows in the background there too.

thanks bro! if you ever get a chance to get one , do it!
they are an absolute blast to drive and they make for a great campout!

I'm just waiting to find another one and to have the money to grab it. I did see a bay window at a good price but when I looked at it in person it was rusted beyond what I wanted to deal with. The roof was full of wet mouse nests and rusted around the drip rails so bad I could have removed the top without tools!

Then I saw this cool VW bug camper I was almost tempted to go on. I literally laughed for a half hour when I saw it. It's just so weird it's cool.

I've owned two vw campers. 71 with camping interior but no poptop, and a 73 with full camping setup. It even had the rear screen and drainpipe for the sink to take the water about 3-4 ft from the door. I'd love to have either one back. But I have to say, I enjoyed the 71 more. It was cheaper to work on with the type 1 motor instead of type 4.

You should've grabbed it. That was a kit made just for beetles and I think you could even buy some predone from the company that sold the kits. They had a specific name for them but I can't remember it at the moment.

Edit for remembering: Bugaroo I think they're called
