You should've grabbed it. That was a kit made just for beetles and I think you could even buy some predone from the company that sold the kits. They had a specific name for them but I can't remember it at the moment.

You think it'd be salvageable? The back end looks like it took a nasty bump.

They only imported them from 78-80 I guess. I thought they imported them starting in 77, but the 1.6 L Kent was only in 78-80 and was the American import option, so maybe late 77 through 80. Even MK1 Fiestas are becoming quite rare here. I've still seen a few MK2s knocking around though and I would imagine the parts are still pretty easy to get hold of over here? I've never had a Fiesta so can't really say for sure but I would imagine they'd share some parts with the mk2 Escort and maybe other small fords of the time? I used to have '74 mk3 Cortina which had a (wheezy :lol: ) 1.3L kent/crossflow engine, although it wasn't the front wheel drive set-up. Here's a shot of her:

Try here for Fiesta spares. Quality is rather low at times, but thryre the only real partshouse for old euro-fords. They will ship worldwide.

Anyways, heres my '72 TC Ford, TC stands for Taunus/Cortina, as they are the same car but with diffrent body panels and engine options. The Taunus was the German version while the 'tina was the EnFo version. I think with the MKIV or MKV they both were the same xact car with diffrent badges.

Car has many mods. Hydraulic suspension, with 2 pumps with a 3dump manifold each, runnin on 24v single bank.
Original 1.6 pinto was replaced with a 205 block 2.0 liter and T5
Peaked fenders, bubble flared wheel arches, custom tail lights, shaved everything, exrended rockers and more i cant think of at the mo. Rollin on og Cragars on 155/80s and soon on tne new 520s :)
Still plenty to do but being my daily its taking ages.
Also have a single cab Bay Window waitin its turn under the knife....

I just saw the dyno sheet for that thing someplace around here.
102 hp. with a hair over 80 ft/lbs if I remember right.
I also added 954RR brakes and USD forks,
Canadian Firestorm bodywork (a rarity here in Arizona for sure)
and a bunch of other stuff. I almost opted for the VFR,
it sure would be more comfortable.

To buy a 55 chevy.... but I was "encouraged" to pay off my student loans early. My last payment is in a week! YAHOO!!!! (but there are days I wish I had opted for the 55)

Loans were a smart mve indeed, but i woulda kept the cougar. Its one of my dream cars, up to gen.4, then they got to shizzit...

British scene was what got me into cars back in about 97. When i moved back to italy in 04 i brought the sickness with me :)
 

Love the Escort there at the back, my dad had 2 like that one, I´ll try to get a pic he has of it...
Grandpa had 3 Escorts, all white 1.6 engine... great memories, I´ll have one some day...

^this car's been in my family since '78, it used to be my Dads. It doesn't look as cool as the Cortina, but it's got a V8! :D 8) (even if it is a baby one :lol: )

Almost bought a P6 for my wife a while back, but all the ones over here are in pretty rough shape :(

She ended up with a white camry wagon.... :|

Actually, it is a great car, super reliable and economical, cold air cond... Lots of room in the back for bikes... Soon to recieve a roofrack for transporting the Cadillac bike...

Speaking of reliable, economical and cold air conditioning, this is what im driving until I get a rat rod on the road...

Before this I had a Ford Falcon ute, driving this for the last 8 years has saved me over $20,000 in fuel alone! And it is great fun, basically a go-kart with 5 gears...

Man over here in the states it's hard to find a 20 year old Camry in that good of condition. Do cars not rust over there?

Rust is not so bad here, as we live a fair way from the ocean in farm country, no acid raid, no pollution, and no salt on the roads, also helps that the Camry had been garaged all its life before we bought it.

Actually it is not quite as clean as it looks in the photo, little shopping trolley dings in most panels, a little rust just starting in the gutters above the rear side windows and a not quite right repair job from it being rear ended at some point. Not too bad, just the body lines and lights dont quite match up, most people wouldn't pick it. Had some experience with paint and panel before so that helps...

My wife and I redid the drivechain, panels, paint and interior on this about 5 years ago, sadly had to sell it as we were moving.

Camry wagons are actually pretty rare around here. Tomorrow will be 2 years that I've had mine, it's a 1993, so it's only a few days away from being 20 years old. I paid $600 for it and have spent ZERO dollars in repairs since I've had it. Mine has the flip up 3rd row seat, so it can (and has) seat 7 people. Mine came with the roof rack, but adding the bike carriers was a great addition and sees lots of use, the trailer hitch comes in handy too.

Nice wagon! Ours is the very last of this early shape-dec'92, so probably not much age difference there!

Wishing I had the factory roof rack, not looking forward to making my own, thankfully this earlier model still had gutters that can be used for clamping... Gotta do it in a way that does not promote rust though...

Love the reliability of these old girls, they just keep going, and if you do need any parts you can get them just about anywhere for next to nothing! I actually go to my local scrap metal guy, he always has 3 or 4 in there, only charges me the price of the scrap steel for parts, broke a lower speedo cable a while back, gave it to me for nothing, just had to dodge the eastern brown snakes to get it out... :shock:
