And today's ride is my trusty steel "go to" bike that I've had for some time and updated now and then, only thing I'm going to change will be to put on some 4130 cr-mo forks I've had for awhile just cos I do some curb hopping and stair riding when I'm in the play around mood and wouldn't be fair on the alloy fork, this is my "ride or die" bike, it makes me be a little recklessly playful if that makes sense
I got the frame and fork as a freeby off a friend who probably got it off another friend and basically put it together with stuff I had, I bought the front wheel i think for $15 crank was $25 ss cassette set was $25 I had the rest laying around so not bad for a $65 or so bike, im not a weight weeny but did put it on the scales and came up just over 8kg

I love good functioning, parts-on-hand, "cafeteria style" bikes......probably because that's mostly all I have ever owned
Thanks, there is a certain beauty in parts on hand bikes and even the more miss matched one's like this one are even better looking

Tonight was the annual lights ride of the largest German bicycle club. About 1400 cyclists took part in the almost three-hour tour through downtown Berlin.
Here are a few impressions.

On the last meters I met @SwissGuy and his little son and we exchanged a few words.

My bike for tonight:

Joined the Berliner Lichterfahrt (Berlin Lights Ride) tonight with my little one. We decorated our bikes (I took the Iron Pig) according to the theme and had big fun...

And at the very end of the ride I had the pleasure to meet @camus in the crowd.
Final shot back at my place

Here's a Batavus I picked up just a few days back, for roughly $50. It had a kid's seat and needed some cleaning. Though I never ahd a chance to ride a Dutch city bike, I was pretty amazed how comfortable it is. Did a quick 25 km round trip through Warsaw and liked it a lot. 5-speed Sachs is just fine even for steep climbs. I suppose it would do well even if I had to go through some hard-packed gravel. You just have the feeling it is built to last. It's heavy, but you just don't care...

It's not great. In fact it's pretty tore up,. But Look What I Found!
It's not in my side of town but it's not a city over either! Found it by accident out exploring a creek nearby with a haunted reputation 😏

More to come riding ON the track 😉🚴‍♀️

I didn’t know they built one up there

So it’s Baird Creek? I’ll have to check that out next time I’m up there
Yeah, you'll head that way then on your first right, go up hill and to the Left at the top. Idk where the right way goes but..you'll see a parking lot and all.

I had no idea. This is wicked news!
Right around Green Bay.
By the state of it, I'm not sure it gets much use but I could see ripping it up on a not so rainy day.

I had the opportunity to meet a friend for some laps at the new Berthoud Bike Park yesterday with perfect weather once again! :rockout:
IMG_20231018_143301517.jpg

I was blasting through the berm behind the guys above and about half way through a kid rolled up to the edge like he was dropping in right in front of me on that point to the right!! Lost my focus & my line trying to avoid plowing over the kid. Dropped down to the left while watching him & got bucked off the bike by the roller at the bottom of the berm in an ugly Superman fashion & landed on my belly on the back tire and seat to the chest. Luckily my knees dragging on the ground brought me & bike to a halt in a pile between the next set of rollers.🤷‍♂️

Ended up with a tire burn about 3"Wx10"L just left of center on my upper abdomen. Knees, no biggie. Checked out a small brewer between Berthoud & the track at Firestone after the ride & was really impressed with the quality, music & ambiance. Will be back!🍻 Belly felt like I was being branded when water hit it in the shower which prompted a lot of praying, deep breathing & maybe a tear or two getting cleaned up. Nothing some antibiotic ointment can't remedy. Still a WIN in my book!!:rockout: Not all wins are pretty.....:wink1:

dudes a legend, chicks dig scars, there's always a mystical sense or pride and bravado we get when the claret spills and makes a "this one time' story love it, oh and we all been there with the shower pain and a single or two teardrops tell me I'm wrong, we are a certain type of breed that's for sure

that is a gem to come across, kinda like fight club, the first rule of hidden pump track is we don't tell everyone about hidden pump track, RRB members only lol, hardcore surfers rule may apply "locals only" I'm not a bowl style pump track rider to be honest but I would give those dirt and wood jumps a go, sweet location by the looks of it

Couple days ago I grabbed the Kona lava dome to ride to work yesterday, it needs a strip down clean as its ironically got red volcanic dust on it mixed with some grime and rebuild, the seat post is frozen so have to work on that and I think all it needs is a matching pair of hoops and tyres and it's done, probably the smoothest deore shifters I've ever used, they feel light and effortless when shifting and both derailleurs are very quite and smooth considering the shifters, derailleurs and rings/cassette are all from different bikes, oh and this ride is fast, I got a heap of those little camo bags from a local emporium $5 each and surprisingly well made with velcro and clip lid 2 big straps with popers and also some webbing on the back for other ways to secure it, the lid is a little oversized so you can still put bigger things in it and still safely close over the lid plus reinforced side panels to give it some rigidity

Yeah, it's not exactly out in the open, I assure. 😄
The location is also known for being maliciously haunted, which keeps some locals away and others from curiosity in digging around. Fingers crossed I find one solid day before winter comes and does it even worse, but I see a lot of potential in it. I've never done bowl but with a little DK or a 90s Haro, I'd eat into it.

I'm just happy it exists. It's wicked cool it's right alongside a great park and creek. The scenery is a 10/10.
