Took the freshly rebuild Raleigh for a spin, rides nice for casual cruising
I used 29er wheels from a parted out bike, I removed the 7 speed rear cluster, removed the axle and replaced with a shorter axle (as the frame is originally a narrow width for single cog wheel) dished the wheel so its centered, the matching front wheel was disk hub so removed the rotor and dished the wheel to center it too, at the moment "braided cables" are the in thing at least in my mind, I just like them, chucked on a newish seat/post, bar/levers/grips, I put on a couple new chrome brake cable clips, replaced the BB with a better sealed BB, chucked on some old skinnies for tread, a couble old brake calipers and good to gone

I'm on vacation in Cape May Point New Jersey my wife and I are riding around town when I see this bike out in front of an old Victorian home put out for trash! I looked at the bike it's all original took it back to the place did some tinkering took her to the local bike shop now I've been riding it this whole vacation after some polishing I can't believe how good the Chrome looks this bike is going to be well loved. I believe it's a 1962 Schwinn Typhoon.

The 1962 wasn't a cantilever frame. it had twin straight bars. One year only design for the Typhoon. There were other models that used the same frame.

Schwinn changed from painted rims to chrome rims starting in 1965.

Your bike is a 1966. They sold the Typhoon and the Typhoon Deluxe with front rack!. Both with painted fenders and chrome rims.
Serial : The E is for May, the B is 1966.

1967 was the switch to chrome fenders.

That paint is awesome. Good looking machine
Yup I like the paint and it's mostly rust free but there are some patches to clean up eventually, now it's getting to be summer I can start pulling out some bikes, I have a YouTube channel with a couple of very amateur videos of two bikes, I intend to start doing simple walk arounds on the bike I and my homeboy have, maybe about 100 bikes but some are incomplete or at this stage just frames, I will do basic walk around with some music, we have a good variety
