Make sure you take it out for a test ride and final photo shoot on a nice dirty, muddy road so everyone else in your class has at least a slim chance of competing !!
He could bury it in mud at the bottom of the river, and mine would still stand no chance, and honestly, I don't care. We ain't competing, we're on the same team

I just want a participation ribbon !! But really I will say as a relative newcomer to this site, I’m in awe at the fantastic builds, intricate details, mind blowing designs, and superb paint jobs on these bikes. It really is the opposite extreme of a rat build, more of a full custom build, but I love it all !!

That is what makes the forum and the build off so enjoyable. We all feed off of each others creativity, feedback, ideas, knowledge, etc. It really comes out during the build offs in particular and makes every one of us build a better bike than we ever would have building in isolation.

Tested the hex trimmed crowns on the tank. They aren't covering much of the sweet honey at all.

This little doohickey is working well. I forgot all about it and it has been holding in place on its own.

I think my scallops will be something along these lines. Probably closer to the upper trial than the lower.

The first two trials were flat bottom and flat top scallops. I decided to try even top and bottom. The upper scallops are just too thick, so I went about half as thick with the lower test. I think thats the winner of the scallop wars.

I cut the last scallop pattern from some red PAD to use as imaginary red mockup paint.

Then I laid some honeycomb on it
Here are a series of pics from looking straight from 90 degrees down to about an angle of 10 degrees.
I'm loving the look of this. Now I need to find the time to tape off the same pattern on the tank meat on both sides and paint it on!!!!!

Trimming the crowns really worked well.
If that's the right shade of red on the inserts, it could go as it, they look painted on.

It's just dollar store posterboard. Our humidity would destroy it in no time :D :D :D

Just before you posted this I was laying out the scallops on what was left of the office depot plastic book report folder.

There was enough material if I did it diagonally. But I will have to go back for one more of these folders for the other side.

These are closer to the color red that I want too. Plus they will match the guard louvers exactly.

It will be easy to glue these down in the sammich, they will hold up to the elements very well, and I save time not having to tape off two sides for paint, then prep, then paint, then wait for it dry and hope it doesn't run, then hope the honeycomb doesn't scratch it...........There I talked myself into it. :D
