I had forgotten that 48Hawthorne had told me the beehive front forks were not Dayton, but actually Snyder built.

Definitely a Snyder fork. They ride super smooth and are not too common. Here's my '48 Hawthorne with the same fork:

Nice find! Cheers, Jordan

Thanks for the compliment Ronk. There is so much cool stuff that comes out in these build offs. You really need to look at the build threads to see it all and even then you miss stuff.

Why aren't you in BO7? I did BEER RUN last year in only 30 days. Jump on in. You won't regret it!!!!!

Hey kf,

In the immortal words of the Nature Boy....WOOOO! WOOOO! WOOOO!
This looks AWESOME so far!

One thing, that makes me go, 'better make sure', is the springer yoke (or U shaped thingie). Those are designed to take the weight/force of the front wheel, that's a lot less than carrying the weight of the rider and absorbing the force. You might want to consider having a 'hidden' brace added, just to beef it up or run two bolts on each 'springer-stay' where they connect.

As for a tougher spring, I bought a pair of these porch swing springs at Home Depot for my chopperbuild (I just have the find them  ).

They don't have a matching conical shape to them, but they are stout, you just have to cut those silly 'opposing compression wires' off. It has a carrying load of 352 # (but that's expansion, not compression).

I'll get some measurements if you'd like. It will force me to find them!

Cheers,
Dr. T

Tank, Thanks for the compliments and for the advice. If I stick with the single spring I will probably re0nforce the U-Arm and run the bolt all the way across.

I have seen those swing springs at Home Depot, so I know the scale of them. They may be a bit long, but it might look col to have a Monarch like dualie spring in the back.

I have some thick Stanless that I could fab up the top and bottom plates if I had too. Of course I don't want to make this two ide either and mess up the flow of the rear end.

More stuff to think through on my testbed.

Now, I'm going to Jake's thread and posting twice.

Those will work well in the bog.
It's not number of posts that up the views. I just re-clicked on Jakes thread a few times to get him within 8 of 4000. Few more clicks and he will get teh Golden Ticket!!!
