Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceliner 7/8 Light or No Light???

You have an AMAZING bike but I think the stem is throwing off the flow in my opinion. Then again, I like low bikes. I thought about a stem like that, but I didn't care for the rise. I love the bars, but think they would look a little better lower to the frame. Then mount the light to the bars or hang it from the bars upside down. I also REALLY like the shape of the light housing that is attached to the long arm.

Terry thanks very much for the feedback, but I feel the stem actually contributes to the launching/leaping forward flow of the frame through the stem to the bars.

I played around with flipped bars and a drop stem early on. It completely changes the bike. It still looks great, but It just isn't my style. I could do that for the build off and then change it afterwards, but this is gonna be a rider for me. I love the looks of a board tracker, but not for this build.

I am leaning towards a single smaller light.

Thanks again for the feedback. It keeps me thinking in every direction which helps with my creativity.

Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceliner 7/8 Light or No Light???

Peat, the gen light that I have has teh exact same body and lense as your light.

I also have lights that is similar to both of the ones you posted above.

I'll play around with them tonight or tomorrow. I am actually at the office today.

that teardrop would look good , I also think a bracket off the stem is the way to go with either light , try to get it out front a little more .

Thanks dog and everyone else for the helpful advice. Teamwork!!!

It's your call, but your bike is so streamlined, I would go with the smaller aerodynamic 50's looking lamp light you have there instead of that bigger clunkier looking lamp.

To tell you the truth, I kinda like your big light.

I love the big light too, but maybe not for this front end, and who knows what I'll do in the end. Lots of options to consider.

What about the streamlined 70s headlight I used in RRBBO6?

Brian,
It was GREAT to meet you, talk bikes and see that fabulous courtyard of yours. I wish we would have more time to talk bikes and have a few more beers.

The Flexliner looks even better in person. I'm amazed at how rigid the rear springer is, having sat on it, I have NO DOUBT that it's sturdy enough to hold up for a long time. It's too bad the picture got a little blurry at the bottom (DANG! I look OLD with that white goatee!)

On your light dilemma, from the tail light idea you shared with me, would you consider using both of these mounted to the handlebar? Dual lights would follow the whole 'dual' design you have going on with, a twin top bar, dual suspension, and (if you use the Replica seat) those twin huge seat springs. Just thinkin' out loud...

Thanks again for the hospitality, I'm sure it won't be the last time.

Nick,
REALLY? You thought my avatar was a portrait? That guy looks old enough to have invented the bicycle!

Cheers,
Dr. T (Rob)

Rob, I had a great time meeting you and you cool family. I am sure it won't be the last time either. I will pass on teh courtyard compliment to my wife.

I'll keep your dualie idea in mind as I think through my headlight tailight choices.

Nick, you can see from this photo that Tank has his teeth.

This light would look killer ,I think the shape is screamin Spaceliner ... .02 8) Tom

I have two of these desk lights with the cool brace arms.

Maybe I'll use one for the headlight with a smaller brace, then use the other as a tailight with the full brace connected right at the base of the rear suspension with teh brace following the curve of the wheel?????? 8)

Kinda a virtual fender that continues teh dual top tube vibe!

Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceliner 7/8 Light or No Light???

Dr. T has a really good point every thing on her is double so a single light will stick out like a sore thumb just my .02

I have had white hair and a white goatee since I was about 37. My mom was completely gray at 35. Looks like you guys had a great time. I've had the pleasure of meeting several members and everyone has been awesome.

Guess I need two sets of bars too!!!!

Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceliner 7/8 Light or No Light???

I could just mount two of these under the wings or at the wing tips.
I already plan on painting most of the front end anodized red.

On a different note, I wonder what these would look like on Flexy?

Didn't someone mount those into a housing made out of tubing? I thought they angled the front of the tubing and had an end cap with a hole in it so you could push the power button. I'm pretty sure it had a set screw that held it in place. I can't remember the bike/builder though. Then again, it could have been a show I was at.

54shadow used the stubby version of this light inside some copper and mounted them to the front axle on Steamboy in this buildoff. It looks pretty sharp.
