Hit the nail on the head there Jats! Painting is going to be interesting to say the least! Trying to get an even coat over all the bars, specially inside the round bars will be a slow process me thinks...

You would still need to cover it with some type of clear coat and that could be even more of a nightmare to do than slinging a color coat of paint on it.

Got lots of work done today, finished the first side of the frame and due to using the original as a template, finished the second too!

Love the way they came out, look amazing!
Super rigid too, just one side can take my entire weight without any worries...

Wont be doing too much tomorrow, but may get them joined up into one frame...

The idea actually started when I did the seat hinge support on FatBob this way, it came out so rigid and looked so good that I started wondering about doing a whole frame that way...

I changed the design of the trussing a little, I think this new way looks cleaner and neater and is still so strong it is really unbelievable! The top and bottom square tube is easily bent by hand over a round object, but once it is trussed, it does not move at all!

Looks great...

I would use a solid color base coat and then hit the outside with a metal flake... I don't think it will hurt the look any if the inner sections of the frame are metal flake totally as long as it blends together.
