Yes all of the pointy bits will be flush with the bar surfaces. No Eunuchs here!!!!

The pixelated effect was a cool bonus when I started playing with this stuff. You're not really seeing the actual scallops at an angle, it's the reflections of the color from the six sides of the cell walls of the honeycomb.

Got both vinyl sets of scallops cut and ready.
This tank is a great addition to your well represented theme. When I saw the honeycomb the first time on my phone I thought it was some kind of silicone mat. That was why I asked if it was going to be used for pedal grips. It all makes sense now.
Did some testing on what works best to mount the plastic scallops on the flashing. Surprisingly, these glue dots from Office Depot had thr strongest bond. And also the one with the least mess. I imagine the Gorilla Mounting Tape would have been even stronger, but overkill for this part. It also would have been harder to slice into slivers.
These little dots come in individual squares like acid. They have sheets on each side, so I can slice them how I want and then still have both peel away sheets to apply them easily.

Finished the tedious glue dots after dinner. The only tedious part is slicing siper thin strips to go out along the points.
Gluing them down went pretty smoothly too. You can see the dots through the plastic looks like measles.
But once you apply the honeycomb vaccine, it all goes away.

Both sides of the tank middle are now painted with plastic and glue boogers.

Time to polish some darts on a broomstick.
The mid tube darts are polishsd too. You can see the difference between these and the unpolished top tube darts.
