The frame makes me think of a bridge, so maybe it'll help with the flex.

Well that's a design feature, I didn't add anything to the original frame. But it is part of what's cool about it. The sweeping cantilever tubes are eye catching too and another reason I didn't mod the og frame much (except the cut n stretch on the chain stays)(and the extra BB)

I agree with @SSG , it's like a bridge with the strength of the vertical straight lines, and the beauty of the curved cantis. Maybe a bridge themed name for the build...like "Bridge Over Troubled Bike Paths" or "Under the Bike Bridge", "Love can Build a Bike Bridge"....

Headed out to GJD. Got the BB tacked and welded on one side. Will flip it over and weld the other side when I get back.
Tacked the rear tubes too. Progress...

snafu...
little welder uses .030 wire with the tips I have. I accidentally grabbed .035 argh fits but too snug when wire bends a bit, then it jams. Tried drilling out the old tip I have... seems to work, gotta get the correct tips tomorrow. Welds are rough. Wire feed is new to me. I'm an old stick welder...
Also a carpenter who thinks he can do everything...lol.
Still, it's coming along...

It'll eventually come to you, I started out with a stick welder too. Got a MIG and doing fine, even if sometimes I have gorilla welds (ugly but strong).

Yeah I learned stick in HS but that was almost 40 yrs ago...The little Harbor Freight wire feeder I have isn't known for being that great of a welder anyway. But it was cheap! I think there are some mods I can do to it to improve performance, guess I should get on that too. The .035 wire seems to burn in better, but I just can't figure how five thousandths is that much of a difference. So I've been welding all over on this frame except on the cut I made at the top of the seat stays. I want that weld to be perfect.

I have a ratty free spirit motor... Hasn't ran in years and I'm not a motor mechanic either. (just a wood butcher) but it's an idea if I get er done early.
