Front fender brace adjusted but going to need to add a reinforcement piece.

I mounted up the back tire and added some more brass mounting hardware pieces. After getting things buttoned up again I went for a spin. These tire feel a little firmer but don’t roll quite as easy, more rubber. Until something better comes along these are probably keepers.
Thanks to OddJob for suggesting their use.
Need to work with the og long spring saddle, add pedals and grips. And need to finalize tank and get it back on.

She's looking good :inlove:

The tires really fill out those fenders. I like the orangish logo panels too. They have an old, vintage tire logo look to them.

A new category in the bicycle world is 'All-Road'. I think your bike fits this well; with a vintage twist. Maybe a leather strapped bed roll on the rear rack would give it that overland type of look. :nerd:

Really nice work on the RaT-ina on this one, Ed. It's all coming together.

And the proverbial 'fence shot'....

I REALLY like this -

Can't wait to see the new treads!
Glad it catches your attention since you are one of the patina masters. Think it still needs something though.
Thanks!
Red walls look good on there
They’re actual tan walls, red might be good though.
Was just saying that because you said it was your "Guiding light" was one of my mom's favorite soaps.
I remember seeing it advertised. When I was in college I remember walking through the student union building and seeing fairly large groups of students watching the soaps around lunch time.
Tank looks REALLY good!!
Awesome comment Captain!

Since you’ve done a couple of this era and style I appreciate your approval of the direction.
Very nice! Can't wait for the tank to be mounted.
I’m getting anxious also, thanks.

I’m liking the tires also, thinking they are keepers. Almost like dirty whitewalls. I need to stabilize the front fender mount.
Not sure about a bed roll, I do have a canvas/leather rack bag that might work. Originally the bike had an old basket wired to the rear rack.
Thinking I need to do the proverbial garage door or lake shot.

Contemplating using the black pedals, would have used one of the red options if I was doing the red 26” ballooners.

The current pedals are probably OK as well. Complicated again.

Def brown grips. Plenty of red going on already.

I know you like your mojo, just, my eye keeps going to that parrot every time I see a photo of your cool bike.

Is a bird on the bar, worth 2 votes in the bush?

Brown grips

I agree... parrot is distracting.

Glen.
Brown grips are winning. The pirate parrot [emoji3079] is part of the theme, LaidBack. I’m a Jimmy Buffet and Laid-Back Clothing Co. fan. Parrot is staying...got to have a little humor in life. I did center him up in bars.
Thanks for watching.

Oh geez, now I need to get a squeeky toy on my bike to stay competitive! [emoji16]

Looking the saddle over. The pan and undercarriage seems to be in pretty good shape. The top cover is long gone but the padding seems like it could be retained. I’ve covered a few seats but always end up with wrinkles. Maybe I can talk my wife out of an old leather purse...lol.

I was surprised to find out that a seat without the padding feels as good as one with padding. A seat like that or similar, with springs and undercarriage, I mean, not one of those cheap seats that rely on the padding only.
Good point T78!
I’ve seen a bunch of bikes that people have done bare, just the metal seat-pan, rusty, painted, polished, even chromed. I’ve seen some done with just leather or vinyl applied to the pan with no padding.
After looking at mine a little closer it has had some kind of gnarly glue added to the padding as a quick fix. Guess I’ll see what it takes to get the glue loose.

Yah, maybe squeaky toys or doodads ought to be one of the next build off requirements as a safety feature. I have a “very loud” toy air horn I could add also, but it is big and cumbersome.
Bring on the squeaky toys!!!
