Well, this was a complete surprise to me, but it looks like I'm going to enter my first Muscle Bike Build Off this year too! I just got this 1979 Schwinn Fair Lady and the 2 mountain/road/track/idk bikes sitting behind it for FREE off of Facebook Marketplace earlier this afternoon! I can't say I really needed another bike to work on, but it's hard to turn down anything free.
I got the idea of using most of the parts from The Trashliner Trike I bought earlier this month to put this bike together, but I'm still not sure if I'm going to use the trike rear for this build. I'll know more once I get the trike patched up tomorrow. What I do know is that I want to use the springer fork, ape hangers, and maybe the pedals.
Here are some quick sketches I drew to get some idea of what direction I want to go with this bike. The 3 at the top were with the trike rear, but I just wasn't feeling it. I drew the middle and bottom sketches as if I was keeping this a 2-wheeler. I took some inspiration from @The Renaissance Man's Drag King bike, specifically the extended dropouts and the tank, and came up with an idea to stick a 26" balloon tire in the back, add a custom wood tank, and stick the springer fork and ape hangers from Trashliner up front. I think I might stick with this look, but I'm still open to seeing how this thing would look as a trike first.
