I was unable to find any similar size tube in the pile to extend the seat stays so back to plan a.

Cut the old drop outs off, but left tabs for welding the new one to it. It appears I forgot to take a picture of them welded to the bike.

she's a rider! Took about a 5 mile cruise everything seemed to work fine, besides the fact of riding a dana is like pedaling though sand!

Bike looks sweet Chad! Thanks for the reminder that I don't want / ever need a Dana drivetrain...
These legs are old enough as it is...

Yeah:rockout:
wow that dana makes for a massive offset on the right crank:eek:
sounds like you'll be better with a singlespeed and shorter cranks arms

good job on fabrication !

That Dana looks sick!
I don't think I have seen a Dana on a stretch before.

The off set is not bad for peddling being as far away from the bb as I am. I somewhat built the bike around the slim chain line so switching to a standard chain ring I fear the chain would hit the seat stays. The crank arms could be a little shorter, but they will work my foot really doesn't hit the tire while turning, maybe once or twice on my first ride

And thank you

It's really not that bad, a mountain rider like you would hardly notice, plus they look so cool!

I would love to think I was the first, I am however borrowing an idea I have seen on here before for the dana

Cool shifter handle.
Now heat up that crank arm and bend it in a reverse dogleg...
Wait... that'd rub the ankle then huh...nevermind. o_O

Carl.

The Dana is not really noticeably wider than normal cranks while riding. Actually the crank arm is flat where normal one piece cranks do have a dogleg or a sweeping bend that moves them out some. I'm sure that it is wider to some degree (I never measured mine), but like I said, it doesn't feel wider. What is noticeable however is the added drag from the gears.
