    AMF Roadmaster springers

What type of springer forks did the late 50's-early 60's Roadmaster bikes have, if any? I know an earlier one would fit, I'm just curious if the later bikes had their own style of springer.

    Trouble fitting ape hanger bars

Ok, I have that '59 or '60, whatever AMF Roadmaster, which I intend to be my "rat" bike, and I have a 24 in. ape hanger handlebar for it. Trouble is, the bar doesn't have a raised part where it fits into the stem. So no matter how much I tighten the stem bolt, it won't grab the bar enough to...

Got some old classic rock LP's

Got some old classic rock LP's yesterday, parents had them stored in the attic. I don't have a turntable, and I'm not sure I want to take a chance on spending money on some 30+ year old piece of audio equipment and have it need work. Still though, there are some neat albums in the bunch...

    Old girls Roadmater

I got this 24 in.Road Master today, $35, says "Master of the Road" and "Columbia Cycle" on the headbadge..I think I'll fix it up for my daughter. Any idea how old it might be? The generator light actually works.

    Wheel painting/powder coating question

I've seen quite a few bikes here that have the hoops of the wheels either painted or powder coated, and the hubs/spokes not. What's the best way to do this? I like that look better than doing the whole wheel, hoop, spokes, hub and all.

AMF Roadmaster I found on CL

I found this clean AMF Roadmaster today on Detroit Craigslist, $75 I'm guessing it's early 60's. As I got it (I actually rode it in the snow): After about a half hour, removed the fenders, chain guard and put on my WW balloon tires: Headbadge looks nice, I think I'll leave the Wald front...

wife had a date with a guard rail this morning..

..Think it'll buff out? I'm at work, on the line, and just before first break ends, I get a call, "Your wife was in an accident"...Some FedEx driver stopped and used his phone to call me, wife's fine, just shook up...apparently the car hit a slick spot and it decided to play tag with the...

    Schwinn S-7 wheel Question

I took apart my little Schwinn Tornado, and the (original) tires on it are Schwinn Tractor 1 x 1 3/4 in. with "To be used with Tubular S-7 wheel" on them. So, I'm assuming the wheels must be tubular S-7's. Will I be able to get whitewall tires for these wheels? Eventually, I'd like to put a 20 x...

    Old wagons

I just picked up, was given, actually, 2 old metal wagons, one a Greyhound, the other a Radio Flyer..Alot of patina, but otherwise nice, look to be original. Do these have any value at all? I've seen them on Ebay, but prices are all over the place. The Radio Flyer, probably isn't THAT old, but...

    '81 Schwinn Tornado "BMX"

I picked this up, off Ebay...'81 Schwinn Tornado "BMX", just like I had as a kid. Of course, I'm alot bigger now so I really can't ride it, but I'm wondering if the basic 20 inch boys frame could be made into something that I, @ 6'2, could actually ride.

    Antique toy car

I just found this. It's OLD, I know that, it's two pieces, solid steel castings, held together in the middle by a screw. No markings on it that I can see..Anyone have a site or know somebody who might know something about it?

Help needed with my Hawthorne tank

Ok, I removed the tank from my CWC Hawthorne, to be used on my Roadmaster. Problem is, I don't see how the back part of the tank is held together...There are holes in both sides, one larger than the other, but no bracket, nothing to put a bolt into, like in the front of the tank. Was there a...

    Early 50's Hawthorne

This is the early 50's, I'm guessing it's between 1950 and 53 by the springer, CWC built Hawthorne I picked up today for $200. I'm going to use the tank for my red bike, and maybe make a rat bike out of the frame. Be a neat rat bike with that springer up front. EDIT: I'm NOT going to...

    One more from Michigan

Hi folks I was told about this site by a fellow who also resides here in Monroe Michigan who bought a crusty girls Rollfast bike from me. I'm on the CABE already so I figured I'd join here as well. My bikes aren't what you'd call "rat" I suppose, more resto/custom, but they're both old 40's CWC...
