I started thinking on how to mount the headlight and remembered that I had a small Huffy star chainring. Mounted the light on it to see if it made sense or not.

My first impressions of it were good, so I took starsNbars outside to be able to step back and see it better from all angles. First thing I noticed was for the light to be straight, the chainring was going to be slanted.

I like it, but I want the chainring to be parallel to the ground.

So I tested it with some spacers on the backside.

Still some tweaking to do, but I like it. I already have the needed bracing figured out. The rear brace needs to keep it just above the pivot arm. It will wrap around the sides of the fork and will be secured with the pivot arm screws. Then I will make a simple brace that comes up from the brake bosses.

Much better parallel,on a angle it looks like it's grating the tires....:20: Oh no not the Boa's!!!!

It is getting a bit of a motor sickel vibe to it. I had never heard of the balloon in the spokes trick, so I had to google it. Much cooler sound than a card in the spokes.

I just don't think I am feeling this faux springer on there. I think it could look really cool on a different fork or build, but it just isn't right here.
Is that from a gopher trap / death machine? A friend of mine had something for gophers strait outta the dark ages that looked like that.

It's a mole trap designed to slam 6 spikes down on the little buggers.

Yeah, I guess it was moles. It did have the 6 spike fun pack. Now that is thinking outta the norm. Love it!

It's NOT going on starsNbars though. I'll save it for a different built.

I'm surprised you never did that.

Should've left the spikes on it. Would've been a "Killer" suicide brake.

Merle.

That's crazy that it makes that much noise and that it doesn't pop.
Believe me it does pop. You're really suppose to tie both ends to the forks.

Thanks guys. Glad you like how starsNbars is going so far.
It's gonna be a free bike by the time I finish it. Just sold some yard sale saddlebags and cleared enough to cover what I paid for the prewar cross bar longhorns.

53 days to go!!

My latest starsNbars experiment is a Beehive Girvin. I was sitting in my office and I noticed the Higgins Beehive that I got from @Wildcat .

My mind start thinking what it might look like if I used the Beehive and it's arms as a faux springer on front of the Girvin. Brought it home and took it apart and did some test mockups. I'm not planning on putting a fender on here, but I could cut the front section of a fender to use as the springer base and make it look like a Higgins base. I have a good idea how to attach the upper stabilizer arm of the beehive so that it won't interfere with the opperation of the girvin. I would probably also have standoffs coming out from the brake bosses. I'm still very fuzzy on how I would connect the ends of the springer arms down near the ends of the forks. Maybe some faux rocker arms. Not sure.
